Kristine's album of all her original music recorded in Brazil, bossanovafied, made the short list for the 52nd Grammy nomination consideration in the "best jazz album with vocals" category. bossanovafied DEBUTED at #46 on the World Music Album Chart as reported by JazzWeek magazine February 22, 2010. Mills also earned the 2010 "Best Songwriter" Houston Press Music Award for her work on bossanovafied.
bossanovafied is the result of Paulo Midosi's and Haroldo Cazes's arrangements of my original songs, along with the work of the other talented musicians on this recording. This album, infused with the soul of Brazil, contains the rhythm of bossa nova and samba, and the unique sounds of Brazilian music that have always fascinated, mesmerized and inspired me.

This live recording during our performance at Cezanne features my musical mentor - the late great Rocky White on drums and his lifelong buddy, Barry Lee Hall, Jr. on trumpet - these guys were the last of the veteran members of the band led by Duke himself.
The room was packed-full, standing room only with people out the door, even waiting on the stairs, hoping to get into the show. For those that made it in - we did not dissapoint! For those of you who did not - this is your chance to experience the energy of that special evening.

You'll find a touch of Texas-style blues in all the tracks, whether they are heart-wrenching Cole Porter tunes or lush renditions of bossa nova classics sung in both Portuguese and English.

as yet untitled - a mere 20 years in the making - relationships, kids, spouses and lots of living in between - we're finally here. It is better than I could imagine.
It is a collaboration with David Rice, a brilliant musician and craftsman of songs and sound, and with David's great friend, Ramy Autoun, the spectacular drummer and force-to-be-reckoned with. I brought along my dear friend and musical conscience, bassist David Craig . Ttogether we are creating a sound, which blends all of the influences of our generation and of those musical masters that shaped us. Enjoy.
The Early Recordings
Sessions: 1992 and 2005
It all started with my 1992 recordings in Austin, Texas with legendary producer/engineer and magical bass player, Spencer Starnes of Bee Creek Studio. This early recording was my cassette tape demo that launched my early career.
Also on this page is the demo that I recorded over 10 years later in 2005 in Aric Nitzberg's home studio here in Houston. Poinciana is still receiving radio play on some of our local jazz radio stations.
